WHO ARE WE?
About Y.C.A.Y.S
Young Christians in Action Sports, Inc. (YCAYS), is a local nonprofit organization that provides recreational activities to youth, fostered into an environment where everyone has an opportunity to participate and learn, regardless of their ability, gender, or race, and financial status.
Coach Tony Bannister founded the YCAYS in 1994 while working with the City of Melbourne, Florida, coaching and mentoring kids at the local community center. Coach Bannister’s vision was and still is to teach our youth about Christ and fundamental values of life through sports.
YCAYS promotes fundamental qualities, such as leadership, self-esteem, fitness, moral values, and social skills through sports. YCAYS also engage in educational development that provides youth with the knowledge to make long life valuable ad healthy decisions.

Our Mission and Vision
YCAYS strives to teach and inspire youth using Godly principles to enhance moral values with emphasis on academic and social development, fundamentals, participation and sportsmanship. Through sports and social curriculum, we will inspire and develop opportunities for youth to surpass and press on in our local community.
YCAYS vision is to continue to engage youth and parents in a collaborative effort to create and maintain a safe and naturing environment for all young people in our local and surrounding communities. YCAYS desire is to offer a variety of educational, health and wellness, life-skills, and sports programs to reach all phases of our society and expand our vision all over the United States and beyond.
Community Impact
Our vision continues to evolve as we improve the quality and integrity of our boys and girls basketball programs. We will continue to strive to be the premiere youth basketball facilitator, teaching the fundamentals and skills in a fun atmosphere, developing team and social experiences, and make these experiences affordable and available for all participants. One of our many sayings is “ONE TEAM, ONE FAMILY ONE HEARTBEAT” It is our goal that every athlete has the opportunity participate in our organization regardless of their financial situation.
YCAYS is composed of a volunteered group of committed coaches, parents, and administrators working together to support young athletes. The community YCAYS serve a diverse community. YCAYS continues to be a precedent-setting organization, that is available to a wide spectrum of society’s youth to promote well-being and discourage youth from developing disadvantageous lifestyles.

Basketball Program
Led by a talented, passionate, and dynamic leader, Coach Bannister has a renowned vision of providing enormous opportunities for the youth in the community, with the assistance of volunteers (coaches, parents, and administrators) working together to support our young athletes.
Coach Bannister uses the sports of basketball to provide young people with valuable opportunities to shape character, instill self-confidence, exercise discipline, and realize the promise, potential and rewards of teamwork.
Through his vision and commitment to developing and enhancing the athletic skills and prowess of young people- as a positive, constructive alternative to negative attitudes, Coach Tony Bannister created and coached numerous, outstanding, and successful basketball teams, through the affiliated Melbourne Bulls and Jacksonville Rams basketball programs.
